help with willow hormone extract.

so ive found out recently that you can make your own planting hormones by using willow tips? can anyone tell me about this? or explain how to do it. im interested in taking cuttings of plants so i can produce more and im tired of buying the supplement at the store. thanks.

    try making willow cuttings and let them sit in a jar of water for...not sure how long but the water should change color then remove the willow maybe leave a branch or 2 and your cuttings should root quick...i beleive the wandering jew plant should do the same though for reasons unknown some of my cuttings just dont want to root...goodluck!

      ...so are you saying that the rooting hormone from the willow remains in the water, and that cuttings should be put in the water before potting or fed with the water ? I've actually got a willow wand in some water at the moment - it's now ready to plant, so this is a timely thread for me as i've also got some new cuttings i could use the water on.

        put new cuttings into the willow water(i beleive the hormone is in the water)... i like to do it this way so i can watch the roots pushing...then plant into dirt...some plants may do better straight into soil and you could water them with the willow water ***goodluck

          ..thankyou for such a cool tip. It makes sense, but i'd have never thought of it. The willow roots so quickly as soon as gets in water. I've a small tree that's now reached about five foot that i grew from a willow tip last summer.
